The hemp used is yarn-dyed with azo free dyes, the dyeing is done before the carpet is woven together according to traditional techniques in India. The hand-woven rugs can therefore differ in both shape and color and deviate slightly from the pictures. The hemp rug is available in several different neutral colours.  Hemp rugs are made by hand by talented craftsmen in India where they have long traditions and skills in rug weaving. The fiber is extracted from the outer part of the stem of the fast-growing hemp plant. It is a material known to be both dirt-repellent and durable.
