Monteverde USA Quadro 4-in-1 Multifunction Pen – Silver Finish – 3 Ballpoint Colors & Mechanical Pencil – Solid Brass Barrel with Knurled Grip – Refillable & Portable

I was looking for a multi-function pen (to simplify my pen “wardrobe” when traveling), and after considering other options decided to get this Monteverde model. This pen is well made, rigid with no flex, has just the right amount of heft to it, and the color/lead switching buttons operate smoothly. I particularly like 3 things about it: (1) The diameter of this multi-function pen is just like many regular pens, i.e. not too thick. (2) The styling has a clean, modern “instrument” look to it — very purposeful looking yet elegant. (3) The quality of the ball point pens in it is high, writing very smoothly right from the start, with lines that are full and even (no blank part in the middle of the line as with some ballpoint pens), yet without building up an ink ball at the tip as it can with some other “wet” ball points (think Mont Blanc). For this very fair price, you get a great looking pen that writes well — honestly I’m surprise there were only 2 previous reviews. This makes for a nice pen for myself (not just a travel pen, but it has become one of my daily pens — and I normally write with fountain pens as I find ballpoint pens uninteresting; not the case here!), as well as a nice gift for others.
