This hands-free dog leash works really well for me. It’s much more comfortable to walk naturally, without holding a leash with one hand which messes with your natural arm swing. With a standard leash I was constantly switching hands while hiking with my dog just so I could allow one side of my body to walk naturally for a while and then the other. I use this leash around my waist and it’s as if I’m just walking with my dog unleashed. She actually walks next to me more and pulls less than with a regular leash. Coincidence maybe but I think this leash is less obvious to her. She does still pull occasionally but the bungee absorbs the pull and gives her a cue to stop pulling before it pulls on me. It also gives me a chance to grab one of the two handles on the leash if her pulling isn’t going to stop, like if she sees a deer. One handle is perfect for grabbing when she needs to stay closer but we’re still walking. The other handle is close to where the leash attaches to her collar so it works well when I need to stop and keep her right at my side like when a vehicle passes us on our narrow gravel road. The only improvement I can think of (and why I diddidn’t give it 5 stars) is a lumbar pad. The waist part isn’t uncomfortable but it could be a bit more comfortable with some padding. When I wear just a t-shirt I can feel the strap on my back when my dog does pull a bit. When I wear a sweatshirt or jacket there’s enough padding from my clothes to cushion the leash. The leash is very worth it without padding but it would be just about perfect with a lumbar pad.
